England Before Bulger went on the run, he stayed at a London hotel and met a man there. Then, in 2002, this man ran into Bulger on the street near Picadilly Square. He thought nothing of it until he saw the movie, "Hannibal." In that movie, the FBI's top ten list is shown. The man saw Bulger's picture on the list and realized he was a wanted man. The man contacted authorities, who then confirmed the likelihood that Bulger had been there by finding a safety deposit box registered to him at a nearby bank. There has since been a sighting of Bulger in Manchester, England. Investigators have not, however, been able to find any evidence that Bulger lived in the northern English city.

Boston, MA Ireland Southern States, USA After finding the safety deposit box in England, police were able to track down a second box in Dublin. It is believed that Bulger may have traveled back to South Boston while a fugitive, although there have been no confirmed sightings of him there. FBI has been able to track Bulger through some financial transactions to various locations in the southern portion of the country, although those leads are now years old.

Grand Isle, LA Soon after becoming a fugitive, Bulger took up the identity, Tom Baxter. As Baxter, Bulger rented various properties in vacation locations along the southern coast. One in which he was particularly comfortable was the Grand Isle community where he stayed from December 1995 through February 1996.
