Cops Won't Give Up On Search For Murder Suspect

In the early 1990's the Galvan family made their way across the Mexican border and into the U.S. to chase the American dream. Members of the family quickly found jobs in Arizona and started working toward their goals. Among some of the family's most prosperous workers were Ernesto, 17, and Juan Carlos, 16. The boys found jobs working construction and it wasn't long before they were bringing home $200 a week. Their mother Elsa says the money allowed her sons to live out their dreams. But their dreams were quickly tarnished. Ernesto had been working for a man named Olivera Valentino Hernandez. Despite the fact they worked together, Ernesto's mother says Hernandez constantly heckled her son. Ernesto finally quit, but his brother continued to work for Hernandez. Police say one day the boys headed out for a bike ride and ran into Hernandez. Investigators say he offered them a job for the following day and they accepted. Juan Carlos told police he and his brother were about to head back home but for some reason, Ernesto went back to speak with Hernandez.

Police Charge Hernandez With Murder

Ernesto never returned home and so his father went out to look for him the following day. He didn't find Ernesto, but police eventually did. Cops say that's because a salesperson, who was trying to sell one of the homes Hernandez helped construct, noticed a blood stain on the carpet of the new home. Police later found Ernesto's bike by the building and decided to search the community for Ernesto. After a few days of combing the neighborhood, a police dog sniffed out a shallow grave. Inside, they found Ernesto's dead body with multiple gun shot wounds. Police charged Hernandez with second degree murder. Investigators say they believe the suspect gunned down Ernesto on Oct. 17, 1992. Hernandez has been on the run since then, but the search for the suspect continues and that means one thing -- it's time for tipsters to lend a hand.
