Case Story
They're Brothers, And Cops Say They're Killers
Javier Manuel Felix Borbon and his brother Jaime are wanted by the FBI for the kidnapping and murder of 17-year-old Jorge Osuna Ayon. Agents say that on June 30, 1993, the Borbon brothers abducted Jorge at gunpoint in Paramount, California. Then, the FBI says they drove Jorge to Tijuana, Mexico, where they held him captive for about a month. During that time, agents say, the kidnappers began negotiating with Jorge's father, demanding a ransom of $800,000. But the negotiations became hostile and quickly deteriorated beyond the control of FBI agents. Agents say the suspects insisted the ransom be dropped off in Tijuana, and Jorge's father agreed. The kidnappers wanted a woman to bring the money in a yellow cab. The ransom was supposed to be paid on July 26, 1993, at 5:00 pm sharp, at the Caliente race track in Tijuana. But traffic that day was especially bad, and the woman was late. Agents say the Borbons became enraged when the money didn't arrive on time. They say the brothers killed Jorge Ayon, shooting him 16 times. Then, agents say, the Borbon brothers disappeared.
