Case Story

Police Say Drug Lord Commits String Of Murders

Miami's Little Haiti is another world, a unique Caribbean culture transplanted to South Florida. But, cops say Little Haiti breeds a culture of drugs and violence, complete with violent gangs or crews. According to officials on April 28, 2001, Guierrin Saintio was upset because his car had been stolen. Police say Saintio went to the home of a fellow Zombie gang member, Jason Bayard, accusing him of stealing his car. Although Jason denied the accusations, Saintio gunned him down anyway; Jason died in front of his home. Detectives combed Little Haiti for Saintio, but couldn't find him.

On October 18, 2001, two Miami-Dade police officers were cruising Little Haiti, looking for a stolen car used in a robbery. They had no idea the driver of the stolen car they spotted was accused killer Guierrin Saintio -- or how determined he was to get away. After leading police on a high speed car chase, Saintio bailed and started running on foot. But, he couldn't outrun the law for much longer. Miami patrol officers soon chased him down, tackled and arrested him. When Saintio and his friend, Patrick Bass were fingerprinted, the patrol officers found out just how bad the guy they caught was. They had nabbed an accused murderer. They alerted Miami homicide detectives, who soon had their first face-to-face meeting with the man they'd been hunting for six months. But Saintio would prove them wrong. The next day, police say Saintio thought of a way to escape. It involved the man who was arrested with him, Patrick Bass. Bass was about to be released, and with threats of extreme violece, Saintio convinced Bass to trade identities with him. Pretending to be Bass, Saintio simply walked out of jail.

Tempers Flare Again

Once again, Saintio didn't stay quiet for long. Just one month after he walked out of jail, police say Saintio went gunning for a man he thought was flirting with his ex-wife. The man Saintio was after survived the wild outburst. But the other man in the shootout, 26-year-old, Oldo Dulcio died in the hail of gunfire. Miami detectives need your help to track down Guierren Saintio.
