Case Story
A Double Standard For Jelassi's Girlfriends
Those who know Fethi Jelassi know one thing about him: when he dates a woman, he expects to be the only man in her life. If he's not, bad things can happen, but it doesn't work both ways. Jelassi's marriage didn't stop him from dating other women on the side, according to police. One of those women apparently didn't get the message she was not to see any other men. In the summer of 2000, one of Jelassi's mistresses began seeing 31-year-old David Settle.
Cops: Jealousy Leads to Murder
On June 22, 2000, cops say Jelassi's jealousy exploded in David Settle's Cleveland, Ohio home. At around 7:15 a.m., the woman in the middle of the love triangle left David's home to get ready for work. It's the last time anyone would see David alive. That night, at 9:30 p.m., a friend stopped by to see David. Inside, he found a terrifying scene: David Settle had been shot, and his lifeless body lay limp in the basement. But that wasn't all -- the tableau was even more bloody. Along side David's corpse was another, Patsy Settle, David's mother.
Murder Manhunt Focuses on Jelassi
Cops investigated the scene and interviewed all involved. They were able to develop enough information to charge Jelassi with the double murder. The motive for killing David Settle was obvious: jealousy.
