He Called Himself 'Fat Boy.' Cops Call Him A Killer

In 2002, Euphrates Whitt, a man with a long criminal record, was wanted for attempted murder outside of Lansing, Michigan. Feeling the heat, cops say Whitt fled the state in search of a quiet small town where he could keep a low profile while hiding out from the law. Whitt headed south and ended up in the small town of Huttig, Arkansas, population 800. Whitt never told anyone there his real name. Instead, he simply went by the nickname \"Fat Boy.\"

A Fisherman's Paradise

For anyone looking to reel in the big one, you don't have to look any further than Huttig, a fisherman's paradise surrounded by the pristine wilderness of Southern Arkansas. Jason Hughes' \"Little Bait Shop\" was a Huttig institution. But Jason did much more than just sell hooks and worms. He was a friend, confidant and big brother to everyone who dropped by.

A Criminal Grows Desperate

Cops say after being in Huttig for just a short time, Whitt decided Jason's shop would be an easy target.  On the night of April 5, 2002, cops say Whitt walked into Jason's bait shop armed with a gun. He demanded Jason open the cash register. However, Jason pulled out a gun and opened fire. Cops say a gun battle errupted in the small store. When it was over, Jason had been shot execution-style in the head, while a wounded Whitt made off with less than two hundred dollars. Whitt  probably bears a scar on the left side of his torso where he was shot. Cops say Whitt may now be in Birmingham, Alabama or back home in Lansing, Michigan.
