Case Story
Famous Keyboardist Is International Fugitive
Eric Franklin Rosser is wanted for the international production, collection and distribution of child pornography between Bloomington, Indiana and Bangkok, Thailand. In March of 2000, police raided Rosser's apartment in Indianapolis, finding a large cache of kiddie porn, both on his computer and as actual pictures. On March 21, 2000, a grand jury in Indiana indicted Rosser on multiple counts of conspiring to distribute and receive child pornography, transporting child pornography internationally, and distributing and receiving child pornography internationally. Police say Rosser also victimized an unknown number of young girls in Bangkok and Bloomington, most of them between the ages of seven and eleven. Police allege Rosser would find young victims in Thailand, videotape them in lewd and sexual acts with himself and others, and then transport this material to others in Indianapolis.
Rosser was a keyboardist with John Cougar Mellencamp's band in the late '70's and the early '80's. More recently, he was a featured pianist at the Bamboo Bar at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, and he performed regularly with the Bangkok Symphony. He also ran a music school for children. Police say he abused his teacher-student relationship to initiate contact with his victims. They say Rosser would gain the confidence of the children and then force them to engage in illicit sexual acts. Rosser failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing in Thailand on April 24, 2000, and authorities have been unable to track him down since.
